At Taqueria Atexquita, the spirit of Mexico comes alive through a carefully curated menu that exemplifies traditional flavors and preparations. Guests rave about the outstanding quality of the food, boasting that it transcends the typical taco joint experience. As Danny Hilburn passionately noted, if given the option to rate it with ten stars, he would. Each dish is presented with an artistry reminiscent of gourmet shows, a hallmark of the establishment's dedication to culinary excellence.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the tacos. From chorizo to al pastor, the flavor profiles are expertly crafted, each complemented by a trio of salsas that cater to every palate. Customers like David Bradburn appreciate the perfect balance of spice, finding joy in the rich red salsa while enjoying their generous portions. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. You walk in to this little place and would think like I did....uhhh its just another taco joint, BUT OH I WAS WRONG!!!! The food is so on point, the presentation is like on the food network or like Gordon Ramsey likes to present on his shows. Large portions and very thorough service....GREAT PLACE 10 STARS

The food here is outstanding. When we are in Newcastle my wife and I always try to swing by. This is the authentic Mexican food... and I know it hails from a particular region in Mexico, I just don't know which one. None of that Taco Bell junk.

Best tacos I've had in a long time. Service was really poor and dismissive. If I was the owner and my workers treated My customers dismissively and condescendingly I'd be worried and retrain the male waiter to avoid losing business.

The tacos were excellent, as were the trio of salsas. The red salsa was spiciest and my personal favorite. The other two include salsa verde and salsa of chipotle. The tacos I chose included chorizo, al pastor, and beef. I also ordered a torta (Mexican sandwich) expecting a normal sized thing given my experience at Mexican restaurants in other parts of the USA as well as 3 years spent living in Mexico. This torta was an entire loaf of bread sized sandwich. Notice the normal sized can of Diet Coke behind the torta and you will have an idea of its size. The filling was delicious but I ate none of the bread because it was simply too big. I suggested to the restaurant that they go with half the bread in future. Less is more in this case. The entire meal (with a soda) only cost a little over 16 which seems very reasonable to me. Nice find. I’ll be back the next time I’m in this area.

I ordered a battered Tilapia with rice, mole and salad, and Horchata. They were great. I loved their sauces. Their enchiladas and tamales were delicious. We had to wait for a couple of minutes but it was worth it. It's probably one of the best Mexican places I've been to.

Amazing food! I got one of the Tortas. So so so tasty. I don’t even do google reviews but I got on just to say this because they need better reviews. Would give 6 stars if I could

Cemitas. That's it, try the cemitas. They sell alcoholic beverages so, just be aware. The food is great. Red salsa is spicy but in a good way.
